Believe in your intuition. This is a placard that sits next to my computer. I look at it everyday. When instructors ask me, "How do you do it?" I think of my plaque. It's always staring at me, reminding me to move forward when I'm afraid. It reminds me to trust in the universe, even when the odds don't seem good. And, it says that I am in control of my destiny, if I simply believe.
Our belief comes through us as teachers, and is passed down to our students. So, what do you believe? A belief is merely a focus, a vision, or a perception. Are you focused on how much money you are making in that hour on the mat, or are you inspiring your students with praise. Neither one is right or wrong; in fact, both are important if teaching is your career. The opportunity to control your destiny and make money at it comes from doing what you love. The adage "if you do what you love, the money will follow" is absolutely true, but it must also be followed by intelligence, and commitment - hey, the same attributes that we teach the kids! What do you know.
